Last Week: James and Maria Garcia

We were at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank, California. After the show Carlos Alazraqui, Jill-Michele Meleán, Todd Rexx, Jimmy Ouyang and yours truly spent a few hours on the stage talking about various things. I believe the last time we got together was at Hollywood Improv in late 2013.

In case you don’t know:

  • Carlos Alazraqui was the voice of Taco Bell Chihuahua, Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life and  El Chupacabra from Planes. He was the face behind the mustache of RENO: 911! Deputy James Oswaldo Garcia.
  • Jill-Michele Meleán is best known for her stint a cast member of MADtv and Maria Garcia in RENO: 911!
  • Jimmy Ouyang currently appears as Jian Yang in HBO’s Silicon Valley.

Apple to Acquire Beats Music & Beats Electronics

CUPERTINO, California—May 28, 2014—Apple® today announced it has agreed to acquire the critically acclaimed subscription streaming music service Beats Music, and Beats Electronics, which makes the popular Beats headphones, speakers and audio software. As part of the acquisition, Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple. Apple is acquiring the two companies for a total of $3 billion, consisting of a purchase price of approximately $2.6 billion and approximately $400 million that will vest over time.

Now that it is officially confirmed, we all can argue about the correct pronunciation of “Iovine”.

Apple is expected to preview the successor to OS X Mavericks at WWDC this coming June 2, 2014. Should Apple follow the current naming convention it would be called:

OS X 10.10

Pronunciation: OS Ten Ten point Ten

That’s a lot of tens.

What if it would be released on October 10, 2014?

Apple to Live Stream WWDC 2014 Keynote

Apple announced that WWDC 2014 Keynote will be streamed live at 10:00 am on Monday June 2, 2014.

One can assume that Apple has one big announcement at WWDV 2014.

According to firstnameatappledotcom, key Apple employees have been spending extra time this year at Foxconn factory in China; hinting at possible introduction of new hardware at WWDC 2014.

Another hint from firstnameatappledotcom:

“Consider the resolution scaling in MacBook Pro with Retina Display in the next iPhone.”

Care to guess what it is?
