Apple delays White iPhone 4. July 23, 2010
Posted by 37prime in : Announcement, Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Rants, Resources, Tech, Troubleshooting , add a commentApple says that “White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture” than they originally expected. Previously at July 16 Press Conference, Steve Jobs said that the White iPhone 4 would be available sometimes late July 2010.
What is really happening with the White iPhone 4?
John Gruber summed it up in one sentence:
Every smartphone maker has trouble manufacturing white ones. It’s an industry-wide problem.
Good one, John!
Is this really a “bad news” for Apple?
I know there are people who are holding off buying iPhone 4 because they want the White one. Apple should have just canceled the White iPhone 4 and make them buy the “more popular” iPhone 4 black models.
What in the world is Apple saying?
The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
Is this some kind of joke?
Apple, you can not say that iPhone 4 black is the more popular model. Because no one can order the White iPhone 4. Not since the pre-order day, not since the release day and certainly not since you have the statement today.
I have no idea what is really going on with the White iPhone 4 manufacturing problem. I am not a telepath. My telepath on staff is currently on a vacation and demanding not to be disturbed. This I know for sure, I am one of the people who are holding off buying an iPhone 4 because I want the White one. It seems that I’ll be using more of my Nexus One, thanks t the Wi-Fi Hotspot feature in Android 2.2 Froyo. (Moment of silence to Google Nexus One Web Store)
Now, it’s time to write a silly email to Steve Jobs.

Being in denial is so popular these days. July 19, 2010
Posted by very in : Announcement, Apple, iPhone, Media, News, Rants, Resources, Tech, Troubleshooting , add a commentTo the point, the whole antenna attenuation issue has been blown out of proportion. For those who understand the physics of RF know that it is a common thing to accur. The problem lies in the Media, PR, and the uninformed.
For example, Leo Laporte blindly berating on Apple with regards to iPhone 4. Seriously, Laporte has not been an objective observer for quite some times now. All phones are suffering from the same antenna problem. It takes a company like Apple and a high profile iPhone 4 for this issue to be blown out of proportion. The media with their vested interest immediately jumped in and pushed out hit-piece on the iPhone.
It is funny how many videos on YouTube show that the antenna problem is not unique to iPhone 4. Then again, a lot of people are in denial about it; calling for Steve Jobs head figuratively.
When the reports about iPhone 4 antenna problem surfaced, companies like Motorolla and Samsung were taking advantage of the supposed iPhone 4 flaw. “Oh, you can hold our phone whicever way you want.” Only to be disproved by their own users.
Apple showed the video of other smartphones with regard with the attenuation, and many critized Apple for doing that. Definitely tose critics are also in denial. Get back to us when you figured ut a different law of Physics.
The “antennagate” is an example of reckless editorial and news reporting. It is a PR debacle for Apple for smartphone makers and for the media.
