It requires you to verify your identity using one of your devices before you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sign in to My Apple ID to manage your account.<\/li>\n<li>Make an iTunes, App Store, or iBookstore purchase from a new device.<\/li>\n<li>Get Apple ID-related support from Apple.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"HT5570_01-icloud-2stepfaq-001-en\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/HT5570_01-icloud-2stepfaq-001-en.png\" width=\"499\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT5570\" target=\"_blank\">Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID<\/a>, there are a few things we found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One phone number can be authenticated to multiple Apple ID two-step verification.<\/li>\n<li>Not all SMS-capable phone number can be used, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/voice.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Voice<\/a> number and <a href=\"http:\/\/skype.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Skype<\/a>.<br \/>\nApple has listed <a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT5593\" target=\"_blank\">supported carriers<\/a> for SMS and two-step verification.<\/li>\n<li>When verification code sent to an passcode-protected iOS device, user must unlock the device first before the code to be displayed.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_1668\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1668.png\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" \/><\/li>\n<li>When verification code sent through SMS to a passcode-protected iPhone, the SMS content might be shown depends on the notification setting.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_1674\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1674.png\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean does not display SMS content when it is passcode-protected (including face-unlock and pattern-unlock).<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Screenshot_2013-03-21-23-21-26\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/Screenshot_2013-03-21-23-21-26.png\" width=\"384\" height=\"640\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apple was expected to beef up Apple ID security after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/gadgetlab\/2012\/08\/apple-amazon-mat-honan-hacking\/\" target=\"_blank\">the epic hacking of Mat Honan&#8217;s Apple ID and Amazon Account<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday March 21, 2013 Apple enabled Two-Step Verification for Apple ID.
