According to the Keyboard System Preference Pane, the backlit keyboard was not present either. After resetting the <a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT3964\" target=\"_blank\">SMC<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/support.apple.com\/kb\/HT1379\" target=\"_blank\">NVRAM<\/a>, the problem persisted. It was a strong possibility that the backlight was disconnected; and I was right. The backlit keyboard connecter can be accidentally disconnected while replacing RAM or Hard Drive.<\/p>\n<p>There is a tiny piece of tape that help keep the ribbon connected to the logic board.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/MBP-Backlit-Keyboard-Connector-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MBP Backlit Keyboard Connector 1\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/MBP-Backlit-Keyboard-Connector-1.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Remove the tape carefully, because you would need it to secure the connection later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/MBP-Backlit-Keyboard-Connector-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MBP Backlit Keyboard Connector 2\" src=\"http:\/\/37prime.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/MBP-Backlit-Keyboard-Connector-2.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Push the ribbon into the connecting slot on the logic board.
