What does &#8220;sever grade&#8221; hard drive mean?<\/p>\n<p>As Time Capsule becomes available in Apple Store and shipped to customers, informations are coming in. One user by the name of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/24254876@N03\/sets\/72157604011791554\/\" target=\"_blank\">nakedmac<\/a>&#8221; opened up a Time Capsule and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/24254876@N03\/sets\/72157604011791554\/\" target=\"_blank\">posted the pictures on Flickr<\/a>. It&#8217;s a 1 Terabyte Time Capsule and equipped with a Hitachi Deskstar Hard Drive. Many questions if this particular hard drive a a &#8220;server grade&#8221; hard drive.<\/p>\n<p>I picked up a 500GB Time Capsule at the Apple Store on Friday, February 29th. I found out that this particular Time Capsule is equipped with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seagate.com\/ww\/v\/index.jsp?vgnextoid=1d0199f4fa74c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD&amp;locale=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"ST3500630NS\">Seagate Barracuda\u00ae ES SATA 3.0Gb\/s 500-GB Hard Drive<\/a>, model number <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seagate.com\/ww\/v\/index.jsp?vgnextoid=1d0199f4fa74c010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD&amp;locale=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"ST3500630NS\">ST3500630NS<\/a>. According to the specs, it is a server grade hard drive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vondiggity.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">My friend<\/a> pre-ordered a 500GB Time Capsule, and it is currently being shipped directly from Shanghai, China. I&#8217;ll find out what model of hard drive comes with his Time Capsule.<\/p>\n<p>I did not open up the Time Capsule.
