The news broke earlier today that Taiwan-based computer maker Acer will be acquiring Gateway Computer.<\/p>\n

I have been purchasing Gateway computers for the past two years and happy with their service. On the other hand, I don’t really like Acer-branded computers for numbers of reasons. They are mostly personal reasons. For example, Acer shipped their computers running Windows XP with FAT-32 file format. Their computer design is far from being great.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I currently have a pretty good business relation with Gateway, and I hope that it continues. Gateway has just recently moved portions of their assembly factory back into the United States. The latest computer I purchased direct from Gateway was assembled in the US.<\/p>\n

By acquiring Gateway and its subsidiary, Acer is now the third largest PC company in the world.<\/p>\n
