Indonesia?<\/p>\n A quick trip to Google resulted in some gems:<\/p>\n Wait, what? There’s a Nazi-themed Cafe in Indonesia?<\/p>\n Indonesian authorities are to ask a restaurant owner to explain his reasons for opening a Nazi-themed cafe that has sparked controversy among locals and tourists.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Wow. Indonesian government would actually do something.<\/p>\n The cafe, located in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung, one of Indonesia’s tourist destination cities, has been open since April 2011.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The article was dated July 19, 2013. That means this Nazi-themed has been in business for two years.<\/p>\n But a recent article in a local English-language newspaper prompted angry responses from some foreigners and Indonesians on social networking sites.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n I see. If not for complaints from some foreigners, Indonesian government wouldn’t do a thing. So what happened next?<\/p>\n From The Jakarta Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n Henry Mulyana, a 35-year-old entrepreneur who owns the Soldatenkaffee cafe, says he has no choice but to close his business due to intense media pressure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “Media pressure”?<\/p>\n This cafe had been opened for two years and no one in Indonesia objected to it. So, if not for the media coverage from outside Indonesia, no one would have cared.<\/p>\n Ignorance is bliss.<\/p>\n Does anyone remembers what happened back in 2006?<\/p>\n From USA Today<\/a>:<\/p>\n JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) \u2014 Hundreds of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad tried to storm the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, smashing the windows of a guard post but failing to push through the gates. Several people were injured.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n If memory serves correctly, the controversial Muhammad cartoon was originally published in a Danish newspaper<\/a>.<\/p>\n Why in the sane world would the Muslims in Indonesia attacked U.S. Embassy? don’t they know that the United States is not Denmark?<\/p>\n Protesters throwing stones and brandishing wooden staves tried to break through the gates. They set fire to U.S. flags and a poster of President Bush and smashed the windows of a guard outpost before dispersing after a few minutes.<\/p>\n The U.S. Embassy called the attacks deplorable, describing them as acts of “thuggery.”<\/p>\n A protest organizer said the West, and particularly the United States, is attacking Islam.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Amazing. Are people this stupid?<\/p>\n I’ve been looking for some kind of statements from Indonesian government on this incident but I couldn’t find one.
