Restringing EVH Wolfgang HT

One thing that every guitar playing person need to know is to restring the guitar. This past week alone I have two High E Strings broken on my EVH Wolfgang HT.

I had been having trouble with D’Addario EXL120 High E Strings and I’m for now switching back to Ernie Ball Super Slinky (9-42).

I also used D’Addario NS Micro Clip-On Tuner to tune the guitar.

I took my time to restring the guitar and did it right. It really made me appreciate the work that guitar techs do.

Trouble with D’Addario EXL120

Sometimes in March 2018, I started using D’Addario strings on my electric guitars per recommendations from two expert guitar technicians. Previously I have been exclusively using Ernie Ball Regular Slinky. It was the first brand of guitar strings that I used on my first electric guitar, a used Gibson SG that I purchased for $150 some years ago.

Personally I do not hear or feel major differences between D’Addario and Ernie Ball strings. All I care the most, the guitar is set-up properly to my likings.

For some reasons I have had three occasions when the EXL120 high E string keeps unravelling at the bridge.

I contacted my go-to guitar expert regarding the issue. He said this issue happened to 9-gauge string but not to 10-gauge ones. He recommend me to contact D’Addario.
