Dream Theater announced that Mike Portnoy had parted ways with the band. After 25 years Portnoy decided to take an indefinite hiatus from Dream Theater while the rest of the band are carrying on.
Mike Portnoy has a unique style to drumming that is also a signature sound to Dream Theater. Fans can only wonder what directions Dream Theater will go without Portnoy.
Black Clouds & Silver Linings has now become the last Dream Theater album with Mike Portnoy on Drums. Well, until he rejoins the band sometimes in the future, as fans hope.

Apple to provide live video streaming of September 1 event.
Viewing requires either a Mac® running Safari® on Mac OS® X version 10.6 Snow Leopard®, an iPhone® or iPod touch® running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad™. The live broadcast will begin at 10:00 a.m. PDT on September 1, 2010 at www.apple.com.
Apple once again is hinting at the new service they will be unveiling at the September 1 event. Yes, the live video streaming of the event is the showcase of Apple new streaming service. Why limited to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iOS 3.0 or higher? The technology within QuickTime X is the culprit. This doesn’t mean the stream can’t be viewed everywhere else, it is just conveniently packed for the “approved” OSes.
The last time Apple streamed its live event was back in 2004, as they no longer provide it starting MacWorld Expo 2005.

Here we go again, obsessively waiting for the announcement from Apple. This time is a yet unnamed music event that will take place at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The event starts at 10:00 AM, and that means many of us will be reading the reports off the Internet. Isn’t that great? We will be finding out what Steve Jobs unveiling just like Gizmodo, since they still did not get any invitations from Apple.
If you still feel compeled to read the live coverage while watching the live stream, or if you couldn’t get it for whatever the reasons are; you can go to the following links. As usual more links will be added as they are made available:

In case you want to know what Apple is saying up to the minute, some sites are providing live coverage.
Tune in, 10:00 AM Cupertino Time.
p.s. There might be other sites providing live coverage, the links will be added as soon as they are made available. Don’t bother going to Gizmodo site because they do not get the invitation; they are winging it anyway by taking contents from other actual live coverages into their own.

Tap Tap Revenge: Metallica is priced at $4.99 at U.S. iTunes App Store.
The second Metallica sanctioned app is Live Metallica app (Metallica news item).
In our ongoing efforts to be of service and give you as many options as possible in the digital era, we asked the brainiacs that help us out with LiveMetallica.com to come up with a super cool iPhone application that creates a streaming interface to your LiveMetallica account. In non-tech talk, that means that any show you have downloaded from the site will automatically stream to your iPhone once you launch the $.99 app. And the bonus is that the latest show on the site will always be streaming for free!
