News from the series of tubes:
- Source Code to UAC Injection Flaw Released (OSNews) | Bad news for Windows 7. Microsoft better get this fixed quickly if they think that this i important. Ah well, I’m gonna stick with Windows XP. Take that Paul Thurrott (a.k.a. Microsoft P.R.).
- Apple Sells Over One Million iPhone 3GS Models (Apple) | Is that iPhone 3G S or iPhone 3GS? More importantly, the press release quoted Steve Jobs who is due to be back at Apple this June. The news about Steve Jobs’ liver transplant was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
- Apple’s ‘Find My iPhone’ works great, but thieves can easily disable (CNET) | I submitted the same concern to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/.
- Iran’s Web Spying Aided By Western Technology (WSJ) | It’s a double edged sword.
- U.S. Climate Legislation Won’t Regulate Cow Burps (GreenBiz.com) | Seriously, can you threaten those cows so they’d stop burping? Funny headline though. Quoted article from Washington Post.
to be continued…….maybe

- Apple issuing $30 iTunes credit for AT&T activation issues (9to5Mac) | A lot of people opted to do online order instead of lining up at the stores.
- Regarding the WSJ’s Report That Steve Jobs Had a Liver Transplant (Daring Fireball) | As usual it’s a good read from John Grubber.
The day is not over yet.

- Iran’s supreme leader rejects vote fraud claims (CNN) | Well, if the supreme leader said so then it must be true. Seriously, he doesn’t even need to count the votes to say that.
- Whats the Difference between Reddit and Digg? (Reddit) | Just in case you missed it, it’s about Pixar granting a little girl’s dying wish. Reddit article vs Digg article.
- Microsoft backtracks, extends XP availability to 2011 (Computerworld) | More reasons not to get Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- Facebook, Google Go Persian, Aiding Iran’s Activists (Wired) | Good news.
- Iran’s leader: End protests or risk ‘bloodshed’ (Yahoo) | Like I’ve never heard that before. If you can’t control the mind, shake your iron fist at them.
“This is why you can’t have nice things, Iranian Government!” June 18, 2009
Posted by very in : Announcement, Media, News, Rants, Resources, Tech , add a commentCBS news reported that Iranian Government appeared to have succesfully blocked access to Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Maybe they would get rid off all modern technologies and go back to the 13th Century. Before you do that dear Iranian Government, please let the Iranians who value progress and advancement out of your obsolete way of thinking. Here’s what you should do. Get everyone who have the same ideal like you do into the same area and built walls to surround you. Keep everyone else out, I can surely say that the world will leave you be.
Twitter: Freedom of Information in One Hundred and Forty Characters or Less at a Time. June 17, 2009
Posted by very in : Announcement, Applications, Apps, Media, News, Resources, Tech , add a commentFounded in 1996, Twitter.com has seen its ups and down in the technology community. Mirroring the Short Message Service (SMS), a tweet allows only maximum of 140 characters in one message.
Twitter has now become a a near-real time news conduit for the world. Does anyone remember when then Presidential Candidate Barack Obama was actively using Twitter on the campaign trail? He even utilized Twitter to announced his Vice-Presidential choice. That was back in 2008.
Also in 2008, Twitter became the de facto news medium in Mumbai attacks.
In January 2009, the first image of the downed US Airways Flight 1549 was transmitted through Twitter.
In June 2006 Twitter once again became the method of choice in communicating with countries outside Iran. Iranian government effectively cut off the communication pipelines to the world after allegation of fraud in the Iranian Presidential Election. Major news media were critized of failing to report the event in Iran. People were getting the news through Twitter instead of CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, etc.
Twitter has become an important news medium. Forget Ashton Kutcher and Oprah!
