First Post and the Wandering Thoughts

Hello, Major Obvious here. This would be my first post here.

I didn’t know anything about the Miley Cyrus’ MTV VMA performance until days later thank to Reddit. All I can say that VMA was littered with bad music, bad performance, bad “artists” and well, bad everything.

Yeah, it’s not just Miley Cyrus. The whole MTV VMA is an insult to art.

It could’ve been hours or days later, Oxford Dictionaries Online added the definition of “twerk” into their database.

AMAZING!

Days later, while helping someone on their computer I came across this headline:

Miley Cyrus’ VMAs Scandal — the Muslim Connection Exposed!

What The Fungus?

What does Miley Cyrus’ raunchy, twerk-eriffic performance at the MTV Video Music Awards have to do with Muslims?

This sounds stupid, but please, do go on.

Seemingly nothing — unless you’re Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.

Donohue weighed in on the topic of the week on Thursday, comparing reactions to Cyrus’ performance and the controversy over the upcoming Miss World pageant in Indonesia next month.

Huh, what?

Apparently the upcoming Miss World pageant would be held in Indonesia. Indonesia?

A quick trip to Google resulted in some gems:

Wait, what? There’s a Nazi-themed Cafe in Indonesia?

Indonesian authorities are to ask a restaurant owner to explain his reasons for opening a Nazi-themed cafe that has sparked controversy among locals and tourists.

Wow. Indonesian government would actually do something.

The cafe, located in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung, one of Indonesia’s tourist destination cities, has been open since April 2011.

The article was dated July 19, 2013. That means this Nazi-themed has been in business for two years.

But a recent article in a local English-language newspaper prompted angry responses from some foreigners and Indonesians on social networking sites.

I see. If not for complaints from some foreigners, Indonesian government wouldn’t do a thing. So what happened next?

From The Jakarta Post:

Henry Mulyana, a 35-year-old entrepreneur who owns the Soldatenkaffee cafe, says he has no choice but to close his business due to intense media pressure.

“Media pressure”?

This cafe had been opened for two years and no one in Indonesia objected to it. So, if not for the media coverage from outside Indonesia, no one would have cared.

Ignorance is bliss.

Does anyone remembers what happened back in 2006?

From USA Today:

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Hundreds of Muslims protesting caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad tried to storm the U.S. Embassy on Sunday, smashing the windows of a guard post but failing to push through the gates. Several people were injured.

If memory serves correctly, the controversial Muhammad cartoon was originally published in a Danish newspaper.

Why in the sane world would the Muslims in Indonesia attacked U.S. Embassy? don’t they know that the United States is not Denmark?

Protesters throwing stones and brandishing wooden staves tried to break through the gates. They set fire to U.S. flags and a poster of President Bush and smashed the windows of a guard outpost before dispersing after a few minutes.

The U.S. Embassy called the attacks deplorable, describing them as acts of “thuggery.”

A protest organizer said the West, and particularly the United States, is attacking Islam.

Amazing. Are people this stupid?

I’ve been looking for some kind of statements from Indonesian government on this incident but I couldn’t find one. If someone can forward me the link I’d be grateful.

I wonder what President Barack Obama’s opinion on Indonesia since he actually lived in Indonesia back in 1967 to 1971.

For some reasons I forgot my original thought at the beginning of this post. Lemme scroll up and read my own writings.

OK. I was talking about Miley Cyrus’ MTV VMA performance, and Bill Donohue’s theory on the matter. Then something about Indonesia and Miss World pageant.

Why did it bother me?

That’s because Indonesia sounds like a thriving place for hypocrites.

From The Guardian:

Jakarta struggles with the politics of pornography as Playboy comes to town

The 200-plus demonstrators from the student group Concerned Muslims who had gathered in light drizzle at one of central Jakarta’s main roundabouts had a simple message for passing motorists. “Reject Playboy! Reject Playboy!” they shouted. “Don’t publish that filth here. Keep the Indonesian nation clean.”

Fair game, until you found out this headline:

Anti-porn Indonesian legislator caught with porn

Is this for real?

From CBS News:

JAKARTA, Indonesia – An Indonesian lawmaker who helped pass a tough anti-pornography law resigned Monday after he got caught watching sexually explicit videos on his computer during a parliamentary debate.

Couldn’t he wait till he get home?

According to CNET:

However, it seems that Arifinto might himself have some affinity for sex on the Web. For, according to the Associated Press, he was photographed hunched over what could be an iPad watching a porn movie for several minutes.

iPad? Then it must have been Apple’s fault for making an iPad that’s capable of displaying porn. OK, this one is about a Tennesse man.

Back on the subject…….

Screw this I’m tired.

In short I want to say:

  • MTV VMA is stupid
  • Miley Cyrus was derping
  • There’s something about Indonesia, stupidity and hypocrites

I personally blame the lack of common sense.
