Repairing Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST file.

Posted in Announcements, Applications, Apps, Media, Microsoft, News, Resources, Tech, Troubleshooting, Vista, Windows at 2:26 pm by 37prime

If Outlook doesn’t work correctly, the pst file might have some problems.

Run “SCANPST.EXE” to repair Outlook pst file.

For Office 2007:
/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 12/SCANPST.EXE

Make sure you backed up the pst file before proceeding.

Still Got The Rootkit Blues.

Posted in Announcements, Applications, Apps, Media, Microsoft, News, Resources, Security, Tech, Troubleshooting, Windows at 3:10 am by very

From time to time I’d get a call from acquaintances regarding their computers. Usually it’s about the viruses, trojans, worms, spywares, etc.

Well, this time it’s a Rootkit!

I know that the most effective way is to wipe the hard-drive clean and fresh-install Windows. I opted to clean the system to see what kinda damges done on this computer. Thanks to ComboFix author!

I’m going to fresh-install Windows later.

Jason Calacanis, an attention whore.

Separating from the “news” and personal opinion, that’s why I’m posting this on the blog part of 37prime.com.

Jason Calacanis is an attention whore.

For sure that Calacanis is not getting that much followers on Twitter as much as he hoped. I, Cringely picked up Calacanis’ tweets as story. Calacanis’ failed attempt at humor does show his true character, nothing but an attention whore. The only smart thing Calacanis ever done is selling Weblogs, Inc. to AOL for millions of Dollars. Since then Calacanis has been living large on the payout.

There I said it.

Hey it’s an open Wi-Fi! Wait a second, this can’t be good.

Would you connect to this open Wi-Fi?

Who knows what’s running within that network. Maybe a computer is capturing all the packets thus stealing your password.

Yet another Hard-Drive might have gone bad.

Posted in Announcements, Media, News, Rants, Resources, Tech, Troubleshooting, Windows at 1:23 pm by 37prime

Nothing brightens my day like seeing a Hard-Drive failing. That means I have to rescue the data.

Wait, did I say “brightens my day?”

I meant to say the opposite.

I picked up a Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM 2.5-inch hard drive at Fry’s Electronic earlier this week. After installing and configuring the system through FireWire I finally installed the hard drive on the MacBook Pro Core Duo.

On the similar note, I really need to get a new MacBook Pro.

Buying “Up” Blu-ray.

Posted in Announcements, Entertainment, Media, Movies, News, Resources, TV, Tech at 3:11 pm by 37prime

I don’t have any Blu-ray players and I’m buying “Up” Blu-ray. It comes with the DVD version for a much lower price compared to others.

I paid $19.99 for the set.

Amazon is selling the “Up” Blu-ray+DVD+Digital Copy (4-disc) set also for $19.99 this week. This price won’t last long.

Windows 7: The thrill is already gone.

Posted in Announcements, Media, Microsoft, News, Resources, Reviews, Tech, Vista, Windows at 8:39 pm by very

Thursday October 22nd, 2009 Windows 7 was officially released. I scoured local electronic stores for a desktop and a laptop computer. Yes, I was shopping computers but not for me.

I have been using Windows 7 since the early Beta version and have been using the RTM version for more than 6 weeks to the launch date. I installed Windows 7 on multiple computers for testing purpose. A Pentium 4 Hyper-Threading desktop, a Centrino laptop, a MacBook Pro Core Duo, a Core 2 Quad desktop and an 8-core Mac Pro amongst many.

I personally don’t believe what many “tech journalists” have said before.

What I found out is that Windows 7 is not a leap and bound compared to Windows Vista. Windows 7 still a memory hog, albeit less than Windows Vista. On older computers Windows 7 is not pleasant to use. On current and powerful computers, Windows 7 does excel.

My experience certainly does not reflect of those of most computer users.

One shining feature of Windows 7 for me is the native support for AVCHD format. I own and use several AVCHD camcorders; Windows 7 now can now be integrated into the workflow.

Windows 7 is something new, but I’d recommend buying a new computer when the need arose. Please avoid buying computers because they are cheap. Buy the best possible hardware that you can afford.

P.S. B.B. King rocks the Blues!
